Our first step is to work with you to identify your priorities, problems and the range of options for addressing them. Our first “Open Design Meeting” will bring opportunities to your attention that may surprise you in their simplicity and identify common-sense but exciting new approaches that you haven’t considered.

Who Is Mike Walsh?

Mike Walsh, principal and owner of Horticultural Concepts, is a team builder and leading authority in residential landscape and architectural design. He has built over $30 million of residential landscape and home improvements, large and small, since 1982 for hundreds of couples. He and his team’s exquisite landscape designs have been featured several times on HGTV and in upscale magazines. He has lectured for hundreds of garden clubs and conservation groups, municipal officials, hosted radio programs and consulted with the State of Massachusetts on designs for low maintenance and water conservation.

Mike is a natural teacher and leader and loves helping people if he can, even if it means just giving them the right referral. He knows every project and couple is unique. After your first consultation, Mike personally guides the process with as much (or as little) client input as desired through to a successful conclusion.

One of his top specialties is wetlands permitting and compliance– a much-feared but “navigable” process for him and his team. Waterfront owners: fear not and call us first.

He is motivated by his passion for helping his clients by preventing and solving problems for them while creating stunning, unique, and functional landscapes and home environments. He loves to help his clients envision new life and opportunities in their landscape and home. He and his team ensure that every detail of his clients’ concerns is addressed in the design and construction.

Mike has worked in horticulture, design and construction since 1982. He managed a large independent garden center until 1992 when he then followed his dream by founding Horticultural Concepts in Plymouth.

Love Albrecht Howard

Love has taught for the Arnold Arboretum (Harvard University) and other adult education programs. Her work has been featured on the HGTV and DIY networks. She has studied at the University of Massachusetts, Northeast University, and the Landscape Institute of Harvard University. She’s authored a book for aspiring professional garden designers and is passionate about environmental protection.

Love has designed and directed hundreds of wonderful projects with Horticultural Concepts Since 1994.

Nancy Lattanzio

Nancy has led the design and construction of hundreds of projects, has studied at the Landscape Institute of the Arnold Arboretum (Harvard University), is a member of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD), the Ecological Landscape Association (ELA), and the Northeast Organic Farming Association (NOFA). She is a strong advocate for using sustainable landscape practices.

A very accomplished designer, she has supervised crews and directed many projects with us since 1998!

Catherine Wilkie

Catherine is a Registered Landscape Architect on the HC team and contributes a strong background in residential landscape design, site planning, permitting, and construction management. With a Master of Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA, and as a long-standing member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, Catherine brings 20 years’ experience as a landscape architect at Pressley Associates, Inc., a landscape architecture and land planning firm in Cambridge, MA, to the team.

Since joining HC in 2010, she has produced stunning residential designs. She thrives on creativity and challenging design projects, solving site-planning, and grading issues, producing innovative deck and patio design, and lavish perennial gardens.
